I kid you not I wrote an "angry goose" into my game with the kids, assuming I could represent it as an abstract rule. They firmly explained they wanted an actual goose miniature for the next battle and this set came across my feed within a week.
And it's so perfect. It's a huge sprue, tons of animals, great sculpts and attention to (historically accurate!) detail and the angry goose is beautiful. Will be looking out for more Victrix sets in future for sure.
Nicer quality than I was expecting; the bodies/shields/weapons lack some texture and detail but that's a design choice. The dogs and faces are very finely textured and crisp, nice sculpts well rendered.
A great kit and along with the Warhammer Empire militia and maybe CMON's Lysene Sellswords, one of only a few good pirate kits I've found.
Oddly, though, they're a different scale to the Frostgrave soldier and barbarian sets (chunkier) and don't work perfectly with them as a result.
At $3 for 12 bases, I was impressed by the quality. Nice fine detail and each base seems to be unique.
They are a fraction lower in height than the GW standard 25mm round bases. Just enough to be noticeable. So I just wouldn't mix base types within a unit.
I’ve been trying to get this sprue for a while because of all the great head variations. It should be perfect for customizing a wide variety of warriors with an early Dark Ages aesthetic.
