The pieces have good detail and allow for a lot of variety, as well as providing extra things that you can use on other figures.
Most wargame hobby enthusiast eventually will be compelled to obtain some form of cavalry/rider units, this was one of those for me. Solid sprue that adds to the already decent horse kit from Wargames Atlantic. Good options to build as light or up to heavy cavalry.
This is even better than the original Grognard sprue. Plenty of extra heads for a variety of looks and an additional pose for the standard infantry. Pairs perfectly with other Grognard kits from Wargames Atlantic.
There's some talk about the Stargrave models lacking detail and being a bit mushy. I disagree: the line's lack of specificity is its strength and makes it easy to convert and add uniqueness to the models with painting and conversion without having to be a master hobbiest . The Troopers really showcase this.
Their faceless baddies/Space SWAT aesthetic is somewhat plain, but it opens a lot of possibilities. I actually bought the sprue just for the gasmask heads because wanted to convert them to Pig Iron-style scavenger heads, but the full sprue has a lot of utility. The plain heavily armored bodies are great as they are but can also hold a lot of extra detail with putty or greebles. The two head options (helmeted respirators or helmeted open-face with visors) give very different vibes, and there are several unarmored heads as well. The troopers are all armed the same with one heavy weapon that has a satisfying bolter-y feel. There are lots of grenades and a few knives on the frame as well. (I won't go into the weird lack of knives on Stargrave sprues here, but the ones on the Trooper frame have a distinctly military vibe.) I'm very satisfied with this purchase. I'd buy these again.
Always a pleasure to get some sprues from the dude. I needed a few goblins for a skirmish game and now I don't have more than I need. Perfect! Shipping is fast and packed well.
